This unit is designed to develop your knowledge and understanding of the UK and
Scottish systems of government. You will study the nature of the UK constitution and
decision-making processes, forces that impact on the constitution and decision-making
processes, the roles and functions of the UK and Scottish Parliaments and Executives,
parties and pressure groups, and the key electoral systems operating within this context.
You will also study concepts relating to Scotland’s constitutional position within the
United Kingdom.
